Group Therapy

Group therapy is a powerful and cost-effective way of working together with others who share your goals and challenges. Patients who try group therapy, even those who were initially hesitant to share with a group, almost always say how wonderful it was to be supported and understood by others who share their lived experience.

As the group therapist/facilitator, my role is to provide the group with information, strategies, and structure, but I’m repeatedly amazed by the wealth of insight and practical information patients bring to the group. In many ways, group therapy is like having a team of therapists working with you to help you achieve your goals.

Groups I have offered in the past include:

  • Preparing for Bariatric Surgery
  • Behavioral Weight Management
  • Gain Control of Your Alcohol Use
  • Problem Solving

Group availability depends on the volume of interest. Groups are available to new patients and current and past individual therapy patients. You do not have to be an individual therapy patient to participate in groups, but I require an initial evaluation to see if a group is a good fit for you and would meet your needs. If you are interested in a group that is not currently available, let me know, and I can contact you when a group is available.

Group psychotherapy visits typically last 60-75 minutes, depending on the size of the group, and the fee is $100. All visits are conducted via telehealth. For those of you who plan to seek insurance reimbursement for the visit, the diagnostic code is 90853.
